Hello From Rockville
I went in early to see Harlan and to learn how to use the machine that was in his room. This machine has a "heating" pad with it that give off moist heat, a good thing for Harlan's problem. We put it on his leg, it is large enough to wrap around his leg, he gets restless and can only lay with it on for about 15 minuets and he is ready to get up and move around. He does get warm as the temp of the pad goes up to 105 degrees which will never burn him but does get him warm. Today I noticed a red area on his leg which they didn't seem to have an explanation for as it went across his leg not up and down so this red area did not follow the veins in his leg. They give him Tylenol for the pain and that really helps make him comfortable.
We made our coffee run to McD, he always looks forward to that little trip.
Last night he called me asked asked where he had lost me, he didn't seem to understand that I go home when he goes to supper.
This evening we had a nice rain I don't know how much we had but the way it rained I would guess maybe 1/2 to 1 inch, I'll check the rain gauge tomorrow, and until then have a good night's sleep and I'll be in touch........Fran

Hello From Rockville
I missed writing yesterday. I did spend time with Harlan and the day went well. I had a conversation with Kay his Nurse Practitioner, they will do another ultra sound next week to check on the vein and the cyst. I also explained to Kay how difficult it was for him when I was not with him while they did the procedure and she said she would talk to them about letting me be with him. This time he would have an appointment not just try to fit him in, which should be better. As for the cyst if it doesn't go away and continues to give him problems they can inject it with a steroid which is suppose to help, Kay said I would have to sign for them to do that.
Today I went in to see him and we went to Perkins for pie and coffee. He wants stronger tasting coffee then what they have so because he complained they gave him a big chocolate chip cookie to take back with him he liked that.
He is having quit a bit of pain in his leg and he expects instant relief, he just does not understand that is not going to happen. They have put a machine in his room which is suppose to help, I think it will put moist heat on his leg. Tomorrow when I go in I'll learn how to use it and while it's on his leg we may do a nap, it is rather crowed in his little bed but we do naps every so often.
They can not give him any blood thinners because of his stomach bleeds (the last one in Jan) but will do an 81mg aspirin every other day.
Until tomorrow take care and have a good nights sleep.........Fran

Hello From Rockville
This was another day of surprises. When I got to the VA I was told Harlan was in x-ray and I should go there as the girl that had taken him would be leaving in a half hour. This was at two. I went over to x-ray and we sat there until 4 when they took him in. I asked if I could go in with him and explained that I can help keep him calm but they said there just was not enough room for me so I waited, about half an hour after they took him in they came and got me but I was only allowed inside the door not over by him, he was not a "Happy Camper". Long story short, they needed to check his leg for clots and they did an ultra sound not an x-ray. They found he has a cyst on his leg below the knee and a blood clot above the knee, they feel it's a superficial clot not a deep vein thrombosis so not real serious at this time and because of the bleeds he has had it is difficult to treat him in a normal way, they may add an aspirin every other day. While I'm there I'll try and get him to let me put heat on it, they said he wouldn't let them do it earlier today.
Tomorrow I am going to the Cities for a funeral, Sunquists are going and Jordans and I will ride along. I could not go if I didn't have a ride.
I'll stop to see Harlan when I get back in the afternoon.
Take care everyone until tomorrow when I'll write again........Fran

Hello From Rockville
Today was better then yesterday, nothing exciting. Oh, yes it was exciting I went and got a perm at 8 this AM and it seemed everyone at the VA noticed, it's curly!
When I went into see Harlan I stopped at the desk and asked about his sore leg. They did not think there was a problem, they did put some heat on it and they will check on it. Harlan thought it was more painful today, while I was with him I put warm water soaked wash cloths on it. Harlan expects instant relief and doesn't understand that it will take time to go away. I will keep on them to do something if it doesn't get better.
I did take Harlan to Cash Wise for a few groceries then we finished the day with coffee at McD, I went home he went for supper..........Fran

Hello From Rockville
Today was a very interesting day and it started out very challenging when I got to the VA and discovered I had forgotten to bring pants along for Harlan, I had shirt, tie, jacket, socks but no pants. I had just enough time to go home and pick them up with no time to spare, it was 9:20 when I left the VA and church is at 10:30 and travel time between Rockville and The VA is about 20 min. a long story short we got to church on time.
After church we went to IHOP for lunch then we stopped at K-Mart. I needed towels to make clothing protectors (adult bibs) for a gentleman at the VA. I needed money from the Wells Fargo ATM, I go there quite often but today the ATM ate my card, no card, no receipt and no money. I was not going any where until I had all this cleared up. Cell phones are great, I called Rich, he found a Wells Fargo 800# for me and I called and they cancelled my card and will send me another. (I don't know what happened)
Harlan has a sore leg it seems to be following a blood vein from above the knee to below it and he says it's quite painful, a nurse checked it out today and tomorrow the nurse practitioner will check it, sure hope its not a blood clot because then he will most likely need to be on blood thinner and that's what caused the problem with the bleed on the brain which led to his brain surgery.
I have an appointment for a perm at 8 AM tomorrow, from there I may run to the bank then to the VA to find out about Harlan's leg pain.
So until tomorrow, Good Night.....Fran

Hello From Rockville
This morning was wash day and I also helped Mel and Bill with shrub trimming and clean-up. The entrance to our place looks so much better with the trimming done.
Harold and Marilyn invited me for noon dinner today, we had roast beef with potatoes and carrots, it was so good, I don't do a roast just for me, it was a treat and to top everything off they sent some roast home with me for a sandwich later.
I went in to spend time with Harlan, I stopped at McD's and brought coffee with me. He went down to the community room and played BINGO and did a great job without my help. Jan S. (neighbor in Crystal) grandson's wife works at The VA she was in charge of the Bingo today and does a great job, so many of the residents have a difficult hearing but you could hear her. After the bingo we went to Perkins for coffee and pie, Harlan tried one of their specialty coffees, he was disappointed so we won't do that again.
Where does the time go, it's bed time so Good Night until tomorrow........Fran

Friday, July 24, 2009

Hello From Rockville
Harold and Marilyn invited me over for fish at noon. I haven't had fish in a while, what a treat.
Today was a short stay with Harlan, I had an appointment with my Dr. in Cold Spring at 3:45. I did take Harlan out for his McDonald coffee, I spent about an hour with him. I have been on the phone with him this evening and he just does not understand why he can't go out when ever he wants to. If he went out he would never know how to get back to his building and floor.
Tomorrow is BINGO and so he has something to do I'll go with him for that then it will be the out for coffee trip either Perkins or McDonalds, his favorite coffee is McDonalds but he likes Perkins pie with ice cream.
I ordered a bread machine and I should get it sometime next week, I hope I have luck with this one then the one from Fleet Farm.
We'll "talk" again tomorrow.......Fran

Thursday, July 23, 2009

Hello From Rockville
I did not do much today, just felt lazy. Tomorrow I have a Dr. appointment to see if I can cut back on some of my meds. It is late in the day at Cold Spring, about a half hour or better from the VA, I'll go in early to see Harlan and do our coffee thing early, the day will be different for him as I usually stay until he goes to supper, that way he knows when to go eat, some one there will have to make sure he eats supper.
He had blood work done several days ago and everything is going well with him, his hemoglobin is right up there where it should be and he seems to have gained some weight he is at about 137#.
Our weather is great, warm and sunny and my pole beans are really reaching for the sky, so far no blossoms, I love fresh from the garden green beans. I do have several fair sized tomatoes and this warm weather should make both the beans and tomatoes grow.
Take care until tomorrow........Fran

Hello From Rockville
My day started of good with a good report from my dentist, I will go back in January on Doris and DeeAnn's birthday for a cleaning.
I did go out for lunch then into see Harlan. He had an outing today, Karon took him grocery shopping and he helped with some of the residents in wheel chairs. When he talked to daughter Sue he told her he had been up very early and worked very hard, I think he said he had worked for 10 hours. They have a hard time getting him out for any activities so it's great when he does go. We did our normal coffee stop at McDonalds. I noticed his breathing was more labored when we went out.
This evening he called me and was upset as they had made him put night clothes on and take his teeth out and when he got done talking to me he was mad at me, it will all be better tomorrow. Most of the time it is easier for them to just let him sleep in his clothes, shoes and all as it's such a hassle to get him to change into sleeping apparel, I tried to explain to him that when he lived here he took off his day clothes and put on a night shirt but he was not having any of that talk from me.
Tomorrow will be a quiet day nothing on my calendar, until then Good Night.........Fran

Hello From Rockville
DeeAnn called this morning, I met her and Kelsey for lunch at Perkins. After eating we went across the street to Hennen Furniture and looked at recliners, didn't really see what I wanted then on to Slumberland and they had possibilities. I'll take a couch arm cover with me when I go back to match up for color.
After checking out recliners we went to Sam's and did a little shopping , when we were ready to leave it was pouring down rain, we decided more shopping was need, we didn't want to melt. I didn't do any more but DeeAnn did, she found some great things to buy.
We then headed to the VA and a visit with Harlan. He said he didn't feel good and I noticed his breathing was labored but he wanted to go for pie at Perkins. He had pie and I had a muffin, he had a hard time walking the basement hall way to the elevator when we returned. They gave him a breathing treatment which helped. I was also told they replaced the Neb machine and he got a new mask which worked much better then yesterday.
I just got done using my bread machine, took out the loaf and took a slice, I don't know how good it is and I don't think it is as good as I thought it would be but it will make a good sandwich.
That's my day today and tomorrow is another day, it will start with an AM dentist appointment for me..............Fran

Monday, July 20, 2009

Hello From Rockville
Today was wash day, I wash about every five days, this way I always have clean clothes for Harlan.
We went for coffee at McDonalds after shopping at Sam's and Walmart then back to the VA and Harlan went for supper and I went home. His Neb Machine did not seem to be working so I hope they check that out and give him a new one or get it to work properly, he only uses it 4 times daily for 10 minutes each time but the time seems much longer to him.
Sarah will be graduating the first full week-end in August and DeeAnn called me with a great plan for me to go, I had plans for that week-end so I had to tell her no, it sure would have been fun as I would have connected with Sue and I don't think I have ever been in Kentucky.
DeeAnn plans to come to St. Cloud tomorrow and we'll make it a day of shopping.
I was going to try out my new bread machine but I need dry milk and that's something I just don't keep on hand. Maybe tomorrow will be the day to try out my new "toy".
Good night until tomorrow.........Fran

Sunday, July 19, 2009

Hello From Rockville
Today was a good, good day. I had breakfast at McDonalds, my usual, Breakfast Burrito and small OJ. I took coffee back to the VA for Harlan and I to enjoy together while he got dressed. Then on to church, we had a guest speaker he was originally from Korea. When Korea was divided into North and South Korea he fled into South Korea, he told us things we didn't know oh so interesting. He was so pleased that America came over there to help the South Korea country.
WE went to KFC for a pot pie, haven't had one for a long, long time and that was a good treat. We went back to spend the afternoon at the VA both of us took a nap. Then in the afternoon we had to get our coffee high from McDonalds, if you can get a "high" on decaf. I got Harlan back just in time for supper. Later in the evening I got a phone call from Harlan telling me what a good time he had had today. Yes, it was a good day.
Pat Westman called and updated me on the going ons for the Minneapolis Care Group. So many with so many problems. I feel so fortunate that Harlan is doing so well and I can spend a lot of fun times with him. I enjoy his sense of humor which comes through in very unusual ways.
Until tomorrow Good Night......Fran

Hello From Rockville
Today and part of next week I pick up the mail at the post office and put it in each mail box here in the building. Bill usually does that job but he has several family things to go to and I'm his "sub".
I spent time with Harlan, today is bingo and I take him to play he does quite well finding the numbers and covering them. Today for one game the caller gave a prize to the first that heard the year of his birth called and the first one for that was Harlan with 27 (1927), he won 50 cents and he won one game giving him nearly enough to take me to McDonalds for coffee which we did. Before going to McDonalds we went to Fleet Farm and I bought a bread machine. Now I have to get the ingredients to make bread, it says I can make a one, one and a half or two pound loaf and I think I'll settle for a one pound.
I'll try taking Harlan to church tomorrow again, I'll remind him in the morning that he can't give me a hard time when I bring him back and hope he remembers.
Good night until tomorrow....Fran

Friday, July 17, 2009

Hello From Rockville
I went to the Memory Loss Support Group at the VA, this was my second time. There is one lady there and she is young, her husband has been there for 10 years. She said her best support group is BSF, I got her card and talked to her a bit after we left.
I took Harlan out for his favorite pie and coffee at Perkins, and we talked about his reactions to Sundays, he really wants to go to church and he promised he wouldn't give me a hard time. Some times he remembers the promises and some times he doesn't. They play Bingo on the floor above him Sunday afternoons at 1:30, I may just take him there after church, lunch and getting his clothes changed and see how that goes. Playing Bingo seems to make his brain work as he has to find the numbers and cover them and then notice the bingo win then call out BINGO. I just have to try different things out and see what works.
Good night for now.....Fran

Thursday, July 16, 2009

Hello From Rockville
This morning I got a call from Harlan telling me to dress warm when I come in as it's really cold out. He told me he had been outside and he had not dressed warm enough and then he told me he had a gift for me and I could have it when I came in to see him.
Went in to see Harlan and he gave me the flowers he had picked, Karon had taken him out for a walk, they also walked a dog, Lab I think. There are several dogs that spend time at the VA greeting residents and friends, some times with a friendly bark or a nudge for a petting or ear scratch. The one that went with Harlan and Karon was a Black Lab that visits occasionally and then there is Millie a little beige Wire haired Terrier (I think) her "Mother" works on Harlan's floor, and she is there quite often. If I carry a bag she greets me with a bark if I'm empty handed she ignores me.
Before leaving for coffee we had a piece of banana cream pie at the VA then we went for our usual McDonalds coffee.
Tonight was our Pot-Luck Social, we had a fair turnout 12 attended.
Good Night until tomorrow.......Fran

Wednesday, July 15, 2009

Hello From Rockville
Just another quiet day. I had Sue (cleaning lady) help me remove everything from my hutch, I washed and dried everything and she put it all back, a big job I hate done. We then plugged the light in and it looks so good all sparkly and clean. She also turned my mattress as it was starting to have a dip on one side.
I cut up some the watermelon I bought yesterday took it with to the VA, Harlan and I enjoyed a treat together. We also did our usual coffee at McDonalds.
One of the gentlemen in our building but in a hose holder and a water connection on my side of the fence that is between me and the garage so now I can water my plants with out a lot of running back and forth from the faucet and my patio, I know I'll love it and so will my plants.
That's about all for now....Fran

Tuesday, July 14, 2009

Hello From Rockville
My day started out rather quiet, we had a meeting here, about 2 hours long then back for lunch and to the VA. I took Harlan shopping with me, I had a return at Hancock Fabric then on to Sam's Club for the watermelon for our pot luck, really a big one. We made our daily coffee stop at McDonalds then on to the VA. While I was waiting to head home when Harlan goes to supper there was a tornado warning for Stearns county and I would have to head into the bad weather so I decided to wait it out at the VA, I ordered supper and ate with Harlan. After eating we had to sit in the hall way, the safest place in the building except in the basement and it is really difficult to get the residents to the basement so many in wheelchairs so to the hallway we went to wait for the all clear notice about 20 minuets later. After the all clear and I was on my way to the elevator Harlan thought he should go home with me to make sure I got home safe and sound, he tries to think of any way to get out of there. Bev, if you read this it remind me of the time we stopped to see you and went out to eat only to spend time in the restaurant's kitchen because of the tornado warning.
This morning we had 1 inch of rain and another 1 1/2 this afternoon, we did need it and I hope the rest of you got some too.
Until tomorrow Good Night........Fran

Monday, July 13, 2009

Hello From Rockville
Today went well, Harlan and I went shopping, I needed a few groceries. After shopping we did our daily stop for coffee at McDonalds.
When I got ready to leave the VA Harlan mentioned it would be nice if I would hide him under my skirt and take him home but then he noticed I wasn't wearing a skirt so he suggested that from now one I should always wear a skirt when ever I come to see him.
Sarah is now at Fort Knox and we are able to view pictures of her from there . If anyone is interested the web site is
http://www.usaac.army.mil/acce/ltc/multimedia/index.html
She is in Officer Training in company 7 and I found her in picture #8 She has her hair pulled back and in order to see her you have to enlarge the picture.
Today was card making day and I need to make more and get them in the mail or delivered down the hall.
Tomorrow I have a meeting to go to here at 10 AM and Thursday we have our Pot Luck Social, it's always a problem for me, what to bring?
That's about it for today.......Fran

Sunday, July 12, 2009

Hello From Rockville
I need some input on how to handle Sundays. Harlan has a hard time when he returns to the VA. I arrive at the VA about 9 and we enjoy a cup of coffee while I help him get ready, we take our time as we have well over an hour before church starts, he is always happy to see me and eager to get ready to go, in fact today when I got there he said, "I've been walking the WALLS waiting for you and you know how hard that is to do!" After church we went for lunch at Perkins then back to the VA and he complained about not wanting to go back, he was very upset over everything. This does not happen when I take him out the other days, shopping or coffee, only on Sunday. I am thinking of not taking him to church, I don't think he gets a lot out of Church it is more of a social time for him, then I could just show up in the afternoon like I do the other days and stay until he goes to supper. I don't know how it would be for him if he would miss going or if some how that it would be better for him not to go and that would make Sunday just another day.
Until tomorrow, Good Night.........Fran

Saturday, July 11, 2009

Hello From Rockville
Saturday night and I just watched a parade and fireworks, this weekend was Rockville days. I went in to see Harlan earlier then usual as the road we live on is barricaded because of the parade so to get my car into the garage I had to be home before 5. I went in early and took Harlan for coffee at Mcdonalds then back to the VA so he could play bingo, he does quite well finding the numbers and covering them, when he first started he did not know what was going on but as time goes on I find that he does better. It is one more thing he does to make his brain work. While we are at McDonalds he likes to flirt with me and today he winked at me with one eye then the other, I looked at him and said "Do you have a bug in your eye?" his response was "No two bugs". We had a good laugh over that.
The fire works that they shoot up is great and it's done behind the restaurant right across the street, we have front row seats on my patio. They are about 15 min. long starting at 10 and they shoot them up continuously for the 15 min.
Tomorrow is church followed by eating out and we do enjoy that time together, so until tomorrow Good Night........Fran

Friday, July 10, 2009

Hello From Rockville
This morning I had an eye check appointment and not knowing if I would have eye dilating drops Denese came up to take me. I did not need to have drops but next year he said he would not let me off that easy. When he checked my eyes they check between 20/20 and 20/15 and he could not see any problems so he skipped the drops. After the check we stopped to see Harlan and took him to the canteen to spend his canteen books, he had 10 of them at $1.00 each. Denese and I tried to spend all but did not succeed he has over $2.00 left. Harlan enjoyed their coffee and a cookie and a little chicken and Denese and I had coffee too and chicken. After we left Harlan we went to Hancock Fabrics, Denese is making drapes for Paul and Megan's house and needed more supplies. We then proceeded to Five Guys for a burger and Sarah joined us, she will leave for Basic training at Fort Knox, Kentucky, this gave us a chance to say Good Bye for I believe will be 4 or 6 weeks.
This afternoon I went back and spent time with Harlan, to McDonalds for coffee then back to the VA, he went to supper and I went home.
Drove through a little rain on the way home, just enough to get the car wet but not enough to clean it up. Until tomorrow Good Night..........Fran

Thursday, July 9, 2009

Hello From Rockville
When I got to the VA they were serving coffee and cupcakes, we each had one then we took off to Perkins, Harlan had his favorite pie with icecream and I had a blueberry sundae. I stayed until 5:45, Harlan's supper time, he aways goes to supper but sometimes they have a hard time to get him to eat breakfast or dinner. He is not very active consequently it doesn't take a lot to sustain him.
Tomorrow I have an eye Dr. appointment, Denese is coming up to take me as when I have drops in my eyes to dilate them I have a difficult time seeing making it difficult for me to drive.
So much for my day, I'll write again tomorrow....Fran

Hello From Rockville
I stopped at Menard's and picked up some bamboo stakes for my tomatoes and pole bean plants. I planted them in the area I was allowed to dig up around my patio for flowers, I have several tomatoes on my plants but so far no beans. From the Menard's stop I picked Harlan up and we went shopping, first we gassed the car and got it washed at Fleet Farm then on to Walmart for a few things and a stop at McDonalds for coffee and back to the VA.
I received an e-mail from Jo Hendrix in Phoenix so called her, she wanted my phone number it was a good reason to call and talk in person. She said the tempts are so warm they try and spend time in the mountains, they have a nice mountain home and it's so much cooler then Phoenix which at this time the Phoenix temps are in the teens.
The day was quiet with not much going on, so until I write again have a good night.....Fran

Hello From Rockville
I had a great surprise today. DeeAnn called and asked me to join her, Kelsey and Sarah for lunch. After eating in Cold Spring we checked the purse store out then I went on to St. Cloud and a visit with Harlan. Harlan and I went to McDonalds for our afternoon coffee brake and DeeAnn and Kelsey joined us. It was so good to see Kelsey, it was the first time seeing her after her return to the States from South Africa. She looks good and it was fun talking to her.
Until tomorrow, Good Night............Fran
Hello From Rockville
This is a day late, sorry.
I got my hair cut, that appointment was at 8 AM, followed with a 1 PM appointment at Wells Fargo, then to the VA to spend time with Harlan until about 5:45. In the afternoon we went to the back side of the VA down by the river and just sat and watched the river just a peaceful and quiet time. There are a lot of areas to go to and relax and enjoy the scenery. There are picnic tables, chairs and flower gardens in place and neatly groomed grass. I may pack a picnic or treats and spend time relaxing with him back there one of these days. For coffee time I took him to Perkins for his favorite Carmel Apple with ice cream and I had Lemon Supreme, I would have prefered fresh strawberry but they tell me the season is over for the strawberry pie, so that will have to wait untll next year or make it my self and we all know that's not about to happen besides what would I do with a whole pie by my self!!
Untill later today bye for now......Fran

Hello From Rockville
When I went to get Harlan ready for church I noticed he had a red "glow", he got a little sun burned watching the tennis matches yesterday, I was out in the sun with him but with his red head complexion he will burn sooner then me. He said he didn't hurt at all so it's very much on the outer skin. We went to church then we had lunch at the China Star, it's a buffet and always good food. We went back to the VA and took a nap, watched some TV and it was time for his supper and for me to go home a quiet uneventful day, until tomorrow Good Night!!...Fran

Saturday, July 4, 2009

Hello From Rockville
Happy 4th of July, what a beautiful day, sunny and warm.
I picked up Harlan this morning and took him to our annual 4th of July picnic at church, so much good food! Rick and Sarah joined us and we watched them play tennis against Pastor Campbell and Tresa Hugg (pastor's daughter). Harlan picked up a little sun burn watching them play and it was warm. We finally opened the back of the van and put our chairs in the shade of the tail gate and enjoyed a bit cooler weather, this made a big difference in the heat. After eating and talking and eating some more we headed back to the VA after a stop at McDonalds for coffee. Rick and Sarah joined us for a treat there and headed back and we went to the VA, took a nap watched the Twins (3-3) then Harlan went to supper and I went home.
Tomorrow is church and we will be there, until then Good Night!...Fran

Friday, July 3, 2009

Hello From Rockville
I had a great day! Walt, Becky, Kristen and Luke came to town. They said traffic was awful with everyone heading north for the cabin. We had lunch at Antons which is always good and today was no exception. I find lunch to be much better then dinner. From Antons we went to the VA to spend time with Harlan. We went down the elevator and outside to see the chickens and the Peacocks. We watched the Peacocks do their mating ritual which consists of opening their tail feathers into a gigantic fan, just beautiful. There is an all white one which when his "fan" is open looks like a hugh white lace doily.
After the Cafferys left we went for our daily dose of coffee at McDonalds, today no pie. We had not been back to the VA very long when Pastor Campbell stopped to see Harlan, he read scripture, prayed and was on his way and shortly after it was time for supper and for me to go home.
Tomorrow is the annual picnic at church and my plans are to take Harlan, he promised me he'd be a "Good Boy" if I'd take him and I plan on it, Rick plans on going with us, I'll let you know how it all goes, until tomorrow Good Night......Fran

Thursday, July 2, 2009

Hello From Rockville
Once again a beautiful day, sunny and a blue sky with white fluffy clouds.
Harlan called me to tell me I had to straighten something out for him but he didn't know what it was, he mentioned money but that was not it. We talked a little more and he mentioned his face, what he wanted was a shave, when I got there he had shaved him self and had done a good job, but he likes it when I shave him. I went in to St. Cloud earlier then my normal time to see Harlan as I took back the clock I had gotten for him, he is so much happier with the clock I brought in for him. Mary, the cleaning gal at the VA commented to me that Harlan is much happier these days. I asked him if he was feeling better then he been but he couldn't really tell me.
We finished the day with a cup of coffee and apple pie at McDonalds.
I got home in time to join some of the residents here to celebrate July birthdays. Larry a resident went all out with goodies. Cookies and cup-cakes from the Cold Spring Bakery served on Patriotic plates with napkins to match, oh so good!
Becky called and Walt, Becky, Kristen and Luke are coming up tomorrow, our plans are to go across the street for lunch.
The day was a good one and tomorrow will be too, until tomorrow have a great evening............Fran

Hello From Rockville
Today my cleaning lady sparkled up my place and it needed it, she does such a nice job.
Went into see Harlan and we went grocery shopping. We are having a church picnic on Sat. the Fourth and each one is to bring a dish to share and meat for the grill. We decided a brat would be good, I'll precook them and just heat them up. I picked up potatoes etc. to make potato salad, hope it tastes good because I want it gone, don't want to bring much back.
I take Harlan's clothes home to wash so today I brought him a clean supply, he was running out. I also brought him a bed side digital clock, I bought a battery operated one from Walmart which is very hard to read, that will go back.
We again "hit" McDonalds for coffee but today we added apple pie, a nice treat with coffee.
I see I have a new follower on my blog, plsa0501. Would you leave a comment and let me know who you are? Thanks, Fran
